Captain America
The All-American Hero, Steve Rogers. He was Marvel's biggest success and one of the most top-selling superheroes of all time, created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Captain America's character easily portrays patriotism through his costume. He was created in the 40's and rode the wave of public spirit that followed the tragic event of Pearl Harbor. Once the war ended, Captain America started to lose his purpose and retired a few years after and had an unbelievable comeback in the 60's. Steve Rogers was a soldier in World War 2 and was genetically enhanced by a serum he was injected with. He was the only one of his kind and was assigned by the government to disguise himself as a private. The reason he became so popular during this time was that many young men were finding themselves in the same position as Steve Rogers. Granted, they didn't obtain super strength, but they were all being sent in to be new soldiers.

Spider-man
Otherwise known as Peter Parker, he was first introduced to the Marvel family in the comic book, Amazing Fantasy, in 1962. The character, Spider-man was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, two comic book writers for Marvel. The first story of Spider-man was initially a test run. They didn't think to get much out of a man who got bit by a spider. This character turned into being the hero and a teenager all rolled into one. The reason why it become so intriguing was because younger teens could relate to Peter Parker and his "Bright, imaginative, but nonetheless an alienated adolescent" life. After being bitten by a genetically modified spider, he obtained super powers like none other; spider-speed, strength, grip, and ultra sensitive sense of all five senses.
